Modern cable-stayed bridges (like the new one) were fascinating to me back in the 80s or thereabouts. They're really not so unusual anymore though I suppose.

That area is definitely part of the Greater Pittsburgh area in my view--in fact I would lay claim to Youngstown, although that is a more contentious issue.

So what is the detour route during the annual closure for the inspection of the Veterans Memorial Bridge? We used to use the Fort Steuben Bridge for the temporary detour.

Very true. I work in Robinson and work with several people who commute from OH or WV. They also come out this way for shopping and entertainment as well. They especially like the new Market District and Cinemark theatre at Settlers Ridge.

Yeah, it only takes about half an hour to drive to Steubenville. It's a fascinating little city, if you haven't been -- sort of a miniature Pittsburgh. The downtown is undergoing something of a revival, with the restoration of the Grand Theater and a historic mid-rise building getting a makeover as apartments. You can also visit Fort Steuben, which is the historic site of the 18th century fort.
