Default Carnegie?

Hello:

What do you know about Carnegie?
How are the schools?
Is it safe?
Where do you see this town going?
Has it got better over the years or worse?
Good for a young family?

Thanks!

How are the schools?
-that would be Chartiers Valley school and they are good. ANy high school that offers calculus is good and they do.

Is it safe?
Yes.

Where do you see this town going?

-growing? slowly but surely in my opinion.

Has it got better over the years or worse?
- better.

Good for a young family?
Definitely.

If I were you I'd look next door, to Scott Township as well.

Actually Carnegie but the "car" in Carlynton -- it's not part of the Chartiers Valley School District.

Carlynton School District

I have a good friend who lives in Carnegie, but I believe the town is in a more or less slow, steady decline.
I agree with the recommndation for neighboring Scott Twp. It's a better, more upscale community, and a better school district.
You can probably find some real house bargains in Carnegie, but there is a reason for that; depressed values in the community.
There are much worse areas, but I personally, would avoid Carnegie proper, especially if I had children.

Carneige Towers is not dangerous but a nuisance to the community... It's gritty, but some will say it's in decline.

I grew up in ker-NEG-gie and I'm not sure about the slow decline part, not anymore. It's pretty much a working class town, with everything that entails.
There are good points, a bustling main street beginning to recover from it's mall-ization years ago, the Civil War museum, the Carnegie Library is a gem.
There are neighborhoods that are run-down, then some that have lovely victorian restored houses, others that are typical 1950-60's tract homes.
Drive around it. Google street view is available, which I used not too long ago to take a look at my old neighborhood on Cubbage Hill.

Carnegie is decent. It has a working class vibe, and seems somewhat stable. It's safe, and has an attractive business district.

That's very strange that kids in carnegie do not go to Chartiers Valley. Are you sure about that? because for instance nevillwood kids go to Chartiers and they are adjacent to carnegie and scott.

personally i like carnegie very much and i wouldn't say that a district with at least 3 yoga studios on the main st is in decline.

Yep. I used to live in Crafton. Carlynton School District is CARnegie, RossLYN Farms and CrafTON.

Plus, you don't have to take my word for it -- click the link in my last post...
