Cedar Point is 3 times larger. If the mill on the other side of the river ever closes, it should be given to Kennywood for expansion. A bridge over the river between the old and new addition could be an attraction itself.

Oddly, I like Kennywood better. Cedar Point has lines so long, it takes forever to get on anything. Kind of like Disney, but not quite. I like old amusement parks like Kennywood. Someone suggested Idlewild, but that is really tiny. Nice setting though, with that stream running through there and the nice trees everywhere. It is nice as well, but I don't think the OP should do two amusement parks and I would pick Kennywood first. Then Sandcastle.

One reason why I'd like to see Kennywood expand across the river is to keep the old Kennywood. For instance, it would have been nice if they had kept Turnpike, plus I would have kept the cars gasoline powered. They often remove the old to make way for a new attraction.

I don't know if they still have them but I'd also keep the old time Fun Houses. One had an African jungle theme which I guess would not be politically correct today. And I hope they keep Noah's Ark...possibly the last of its kind.

Cedar Point is an old amusement park:

Opened in 1870, Cedar Point is the third oldest amusement park in North America behind Six Flags New England and Lake Compounce. It is owned and operated by Cedar Fair Entertainment Company featuring a world record 76 rides including 17 roller coasters.[1] Cedar Point is currently tied with Six Flags Magic Mountain for the most roller coasters in the world.

Cedar Point is an old amusement park:
There are "old" amusement parks and there are "old amusement parks". Depends if the park holds on to its past to offer that "old time" amusement park experience.

I was worried that might happen when it left local family ownership and became a corporate subsidiary.

I haven't been to Six Flags over Georgia in a long time but I've heard that it has picked up DC Comics and Warner Bros. for park characters and each ride has a corporate sponsor. I'm all for free enterprise but even exhibits at the Georgia Aquarium have sponsors such as the AT&T Dolphins.

That is what I meant. Cedar Point is one big slab of asphalt with rides on it. Kennywood has trees and lots of nice shade and they kept the old rides. Totally different feel. I'll take Kennywood.

There wasn't a single ride there in the 1950s/60s. It was just a junky place where old-fashioned big bands played. There was nothing amusing about it.

??? We used to visit Cedar Point quite a bit in the 60s and there were lots of rides, especially roller coasters. In 1967 we did both Disneyland and Cedar Point and I recall writing a report for school about how I liked the look of Disneyland (it was only a year or so old at the time and still shiny-new, plus I thought Main Street was cool). However, when it came to the rides, I liked the rides at Cedar Point. I also recall Cedar Point having trees, but I guess those are long since gone now.
