Title pretty much explains it. Looking to get a English pub style fish & chips for lunch.

The only two British-y places I know of in Pittsburgh proper are Mullaney's Harp and Fiddle (2329 Penn Ave, in the Strip) and Piper's Pub (1828 East Carson, in the South Side).

If you just want to eat fish and french fries, you'll have plenty of options. If, as you say, you want a "British pub" experience, you're out of luck Downtown -- but both of the options listed above are a very short bus ride or even walk from Downtown. (E.g., Mullaney's is ~1.2 miles away from Downtown, for a 20-25 minutes walk or 5-10 minute bus ride; Piper's is 1.5 miles way, for a 30-min walk or 15-minute bus ride.)

There's always the Original Oyster House in Market Square, though I don't know if it would qualify as "English pub style" (but only because I've never been to England ).

You could try The Tap Room in the William Penn:

I haven't had the fish and chips "pub style", but it is on the menu, and the food I have had has been pretty good, plus the atmosphere is right:

There are many places here that serve 'fish & chips' but I wouldn't classify any of them as English pub style

Thanks for the reply's. I was mostly concern with finding a good fish & chips dish. If I can get the English Pub atmosphere all the better. I work downtown so locations that I don't have to take a bus ride are better for busy days.

I would be mindful of the Tap Room - it tends to get more than a little full most days during lunch. you can order pretty much the same things at the interior restaurant (The Tea Room?... I don't recall it's name) just off the main lobby.

This is the season of the fish fry, I assure you that you can find fish all over the place. Though as a fish and chips afficinado, I prefer the Harp's fare.

It also has a fireplace!

The other poster is right, though--it is small and can get crowded at lunch, although if you get there a little early you can usually find a spot.

Piper's. This is where Brits congregate.
