This is what the study claimed, you can believe it or not, I'm not sure if I do, but I do find it quite interesting. First and foremost is the fact that men, on average, make more money than women. I'm not saying it's right at all! But that's a fact. In this man's world, men in the work force tend to be able to get ahead more easily for several reasons I won't go into. So right away, it makes sense that gay men make more than women. We are still men, you know. This is where things get interesting. The study says that while gay men still have intact the "manly advantage," if you will, they also have something more. According to this study, on average, gay men tend to be more personable, more energetic, and more creative than their straight male counterparts. This added layer gives them an edge that often lets them excel further and more quickly than straight men. Very interesting. I will try to find the study. I read it at Duquesne when I was a sophomore. I also don't think they are talking about the flaming, in-your-face, "LEAVE BRITNEY ALONE" types. I'm sure in some ways, they are actually hindered in the work force. I'm sure there is a study!! Also, the study compared people of single status. Many would say, "oh it's just because most gay men have no children!!" But that was accounted for. |

I don't need a study to convince me. I got eyes
I think something you have to take into account also is openmindedness. People that are open minded tend to be able to think outside the box to problem solve as well as figure out ways to get ahead. Add that to an inborn tendency to be creative, confident and, again, personable and voila...you have the recipe for success. That is why I am convinced I am a gay man trapped in a woman's body... I am all of these things.LOL. That and I just love boys:P |

I think this is what give many gay men and lesbians the appearance of making more money than our heterosexual counterparts. Just my $.02 worth! ![]() |

As an aside, and slightly off topic, having moved from DC to Pittsburgh (very briefly) to Youngstown, I was very surprised at how much gay life there was in Y-town. Granted, it's nothing like Pittsburgh or Cleveland (which are nothing like DC or SF, where I have also lived), but there is a strong community up here and it's good to see.
