Texas and Pittsburgh set post-recession pace for jobs

Pittsburgh is reaching lofty heights when it comes to employment growth since the recession began four years ago.

Pittsburgh has the third-best record after Houston and Austin, Texas, for the national pace for employment growth.

Pittsburgh has added 10,500 private-sector jobs since early 2008, putting it with Houston (up 49,500) and Austin (up 29,600) in the exclusive club of major markets with four-year gains of 10,000 jobs or more.

No, but I do feel less lonely these days when it comes to these matters. I guess month after month after month of good economic news can eventually have an impact.

The most recent BLS data is out for the March job numbers and year over year, Pittsburgh has 1.7% or about 19,000 more jobs in March 2012 over March 2011.
Pittsburgh, PA Economy at a Glance

Two things that stuck out were construction jobs are actually down this March over last March and manufacturing jobs picked up the pace slightly with a 0.7% increase.

That is pretty impressive to be doing this well. btw OUCH for Chicago and Los Angeles. I also am surprised at the amount of jobs lost in the Baltimore-Washington area but I guess the amount of government work there helps as a cushion

Actually probably not.

Blackbeauty used the word "Yawn" meaning she felt this was boring. Brian, on the other hand, would have found this interesting.

Maybe I'm missing something. That report says employers added 9,100 jobs but unemployment fell 17,200. That doesn't add up.
