Where in Pittsburgh, preferably close to Fox Chapel area, is there a place to play some good pick up basketball indoors or outdoors? Somewhere safe also.

Not pick-up but Fox Chapel High School has a summer league. Basically, made up of adults and high school students. I would buy start buying the Herald end eventually they should mention it or maybe look at the school website.

Also, when I lived in Aspinwall I noticed some old guys walking back from St. Scholastica wearing basketball gear on a regular basis. Obvioiusly, they had a game but I have no idea when.

If you got a big budget for Hoops the P.A.A. in Oakland has a nice court and guys play pick up there fairly often.

Boyd Community Center has a gym that could be used for pick up. Years ago I played pick up there. Call the center and ask for Stephanie (who runs the place) and she might tell you if someone has rented the court for pick up.

I see people shooting hoops at the O'Hara Park (Squaw Valley Park). I don't know how active, but in the evening I see people playing quite a bit.

Depending on your age, the PAA can be very cheap.

Hard to believe the new Downtown YMCA did not put in a b-ball court, spent a lot of time playing hoops there. Too old for asphalt now, but I do some activity at the North Park Courts.

Aw c'mon......asphalt builds character. Lol, just kidding. I always preferred the outdoor summer game though.

You know your knees are getting old when you only want to play on the hard wood, not the hard asphalt.

There are a bunch of courts behind the Ice Rink. I see some activity there from time to time.

Wow, times have sure changed. When I was playing basketball years ago, there were countless games on every night. Now it is all about texting and Facebook I guess. The couch industry is happy.
