Default Mid century modern decor

My wife and I are having a difficult time finding a reasonably priced mid century modern couch. We are in the process of redesigning our living area. we had no trouble finding a buffet (new from habitat), console (vintage from the pittsburgh furniture co.), ottoman and side tables (edgewood estate sale). brand new mid century sofas are either cheezy or 5k. I need a used vintage sofa at a good price so I can splurge on the new fabric..........

Any ideas out there?

There are two "mod" themed antique shops that I am aware of, and they have lots of mid-century sofas. One is in Lawrenceville, and the other is in Homestead. They are on the main business districts, although I can't remember their names. Should be easy to find! Also, check Craigslist under the antiques section. There is also an antique mall in Bellevue on Rt 65. And don't forget that now is the season for yard sales!

I remember stumbling across a second hand furniture store when googling a few months ago.

Used Furniture Gallery »

Even if they don't have one on hand, maybe they will keep you in mind when they go to estate sales.

]you may be referring to who new in lawrenceville. Too expensive. I refuse to pay thousands for a used couch. I dont care who made it. I did find a beautiful mid century piece at a new store on butler called " the pittsburgh furniture company". I paid less than $300.00 for an original that cost 2k in the weisshouse vintage section. Homestead had alot of junk. to scared to purchase online

About a month ago, Levin had on clearance a collection that gave a nod to mid century modern style.

It was a burnt orance color. It might still be available.

Levin Furniture - Metro Spice Collection

The sofa isn't as sleek as mid century but the chair helps pull it together.

Most of the mid century inspired furniture at places like Levin and Macy's appear to be a little cheezy to me. I must have tall, cylindrical, tapered legs with the metal or brass footing..... Maybe Im being a little too specific. Places like perlora and weisshouse has some options but I am not willing to pay 3-5k on a sofa. I have kids!!!!! We missed out on blue mid century sectional at Arhaus of all places. It was a special order and was priced at $475.00 (final sale)......I think about it to this day

I hear you. I totally understand and agree. I just remembered seeing it when I was furniture shopping because I knew someone who was complaining about lack of mid century modern options at the time.

Try Today's Home on McKnight Road. Their regular showroom will be out of your price range, but the entire second floor is all clearance. You can definitely get a new sofa for well under 2k on the second floor. I did see some modern options. I can't remember if they specifically had the tapered legs though because I was looking for a sectional. It's worth checking out.
