For both home electric and home telephone service, Homewood was the first neighborhood in the world to have these modern luxuries.

Of course, with folks like Westinghouse, Heinz and Frick in the hood at the time, there was both the need and means to bring these utilities to their homes.

That is really surprising information, especially when you look at the place now.

Obviously it may be a little early yet for this to make much difference, but I do think Homewood's dignified history will eventually become an asset--not on the same level as, say, its excellent location, but an asset nonetheless.
