We are moving to Pittsbutgh this summer. We have a 3 year old girl who needs to go to daycare. Been told the ones in Shadyside (like Carriage house) are good but we are going to live in downtown for a year to begin with. Any suggestions around the down? Appreciate your help!

We've used Kindercare in the USX building for both our kids.

A friend used it and liked it. For them it was quite expensive because they parked in the Steel building. That however won't be a problem for you because you presumably would walk to drop your child off. Other friends have used Mercy but when I looked into 5 years ago there was a waiting list.

Overall we have liked it. The indoor facilities are nice. The outdoor facilities are limited due to the Downtown location, but they do have a play area with playsets (it is an enclosed space just north of USX). The staff is very professional. As usual in this field there is considerable turnover, so comments about specific teachers would be of limited value, but generally they were good, and the few times we had an issue it was resolved to our satisfaction.
