Cutch:.292/.433/.333/.767 (6 walks in there as teams want to avoid pitching to him).
Walker: .071/.133/.107/.240

Yeah, let's dump the MVP because he performs as a mere mortal in a sample size of seven games.

Hopefully someday he'll come here to actually discuss baseball.
Where did I say to dump the MVP? You're throwing out numbers of 2 of the best pitchers so I asked how Cutch has done in the postseason.

When are they signing Martin?

At least Volquez was only $5million.

Even the best players only get an average of one hit every three at bats. That's an average.

0 for 3 isn't out of the ordinary bad, I doubt that many others would have done better.
The Bucs just weren't as good as everybody wanted them to be. Watching other teams play, rather than just watching the Bucs games, makes that obvious.

Locke drives me as crazy as the next fan, but he's a perfectly serviceable back-end starter for any team. I think his Jekyll and Hyde nature makes him seem a lot worse than he actually is.

Problem is that when he isn't on his A game, he tends to be atrocious. Far too many walks and he requires that call on the outside of the plate. He also seems to be less able to battle back from the one bad inning. In contrast, I've seen Liriano and Cole pitch effectively with their second level stuff and have also seen Worley get blown up in the first and come back to pitch solidly afterwards.

Locke is a replacement-level pitcher who is convinced he's an all-star due to a half a season of solid work. Two years ago we were all upset that James McDonald didn't get on the all star team for basically the same results. And look at JMac now. Bucs should sell Locke ASAP.

For all the Bucs' sabremetrics black magic (and I'm more a believer in sabremetrics than not), it's worth noting that two FAs the Bucs passed on last offseason - Jason Vargas and Bud Norris - are both pitching (and winning) in the post season, and both posted better WAR this year than half the Bucs' starters. Neither would've cost a fortune. Sometimes I think they're too smart for their own good.

Locke is lousy...but at least he won't get big money...and at least Volquez and his 12+ postseason ERA was only $5m...and at least Hurdle was able to get fixed up rather than being interrupted with another playoff game.

The Bucs ownership is perfectly smart for what they're trying to accomplish.

Clearly Detroit and their three Cy Young winners aren't good enough either . . .

Not against the Orioles this year...but don't forget their bullpen helping to let them down...but I love the grasping at references to other teams losing in the playoffs. Difference is they actually try to win, and it would mean more if the Bucs actually made the playoffs...but at least Volquez was only $5m. Maybe the Bucs being crushed on national tv will drop his value and they'll be able to cheaply sign his 12+ postseason ERA.

Grasping nothing. I've said that a short series is a crapshoot. The Cubs have as good a chance of a short series as the very best team. I just don't like that other teams lose because of luck yet for some reason we lose because we suck. Duh, how could I have been so stupid, the Pirates lost because they're evil and other teams lost because they had a bad stretch.

I'm about done here, but it's just idiotic to think any team out there isn't "trying" to win. That's only for tinfoil hats and 1980s Disney baseball movies.

Did you have the Royals going this far? Now they "try" because they've had a good few weeks, I guess.
