Default 4th of July suggestions, please!

Hello,

I have resided in the Pittsburgh area for over a year and a half, and have explored the western Pa region - with great pleasure! I wanted to view the firework display this 4th of July with my fiancé that is visiting from out of state (or any other festive events in the city, which I am not aware of), but want to avoid the crowded areas of Downtown, North Shore, South Side, etc.
Are there any areas that have a view of the display that are typically not packed? Is Mt. Washington one of them? How about the West End, the bluff/overlook in Elliott? Are there any other less popular scenic spots? I will also have to consider the traffic getting to these places. (I have a car, and I'm from the Regent Square area) Thank you!

Unless someone here is willing to divulge their secret crowd-free spot, you can pretty much expect that there will be crowds EVERYWHERE... and a huge traffic jam after!
We always get a hotel room when we come in for the 4th's fireworks.

I cannot divulge our secret place, most of you will hate me lol. My husband now works for a company that owns a building along the Ohio, and employees-only are allowed access to the parking lot on the 4th.
OP: There is not a space that isn't JAMMED on the 4th. The places you thought of...Mt. Washington, the West End Overlook...are crowded very early in the day. For many years, we headed downtown late-afternoon with the kids (and relatives that came in from as far as Washington DC) grabbed an empty spot along the river. (Take some snacks, drinks and blankets to sit on.) We would then be among the huge crowds with fireworks debris raining down on us, smelling the gunpowder, and having a blast. Long walk back to the parking lots around the stadiums, and then the inch by inch drive out of the city.
It was GREAT!

There are fireworks all over the place. So, you do not have to fight the huge crowds downtown if you don't want to. A lot of local country clubs have fireworks and it is fairly common to for people to walk onto the golf course to see them. Also, some municipalities have their own fireworks.

You want a sort of quiet place to see fireworks, go up Federal Street, Left on Perrysville and park. Want more quiet? Continue up Perrysville and take the first right on Clayton. Those places are pretty cool to watch fireworks and pretty laid back.

It has been my experience that Springdale does a very good show. They are known for it. If you go there hit Glenn's Custard. I can recommend this event. The local CC's aren't as good as many years ago. Just not like it was back in the day.

I like Hampton's fireworks because you can park on the neighborhood side streets and sit in the baseball field for a great view and quick escape to the car without traffic afterwards.
