I like Portland, as well as several of the cities in Vermont. I also have to mention NYC, for sheer variety of things to do. I'm a fan of DC, but I don't think of it as a northeastern city. It would go on my list of favorite mid atlantic cities, though.

Well, if we're not talking 'cities' anymore, I'll see your Jim Thorpe and raise you Ithaca. And if you call that, I'll come back with Cooperstown, Saratoga Springs, North Conway, Litchfield and Lenox!

I do love Burlington, but man, it is cold in the winter.

Washington, DC. Could definitely see myself living there if I ever were to move from Pittsburgh. I just like the feel of D.C.

Outside of the mall, I've never really cared for much of DC and especially it's suburbs. DC traffic gives LA's a run for its money.

Im not a big city person (other than Pittsburgh) but if pressed I'd probably go with Rochester. The downtown is pretty dead after business hours but there is lots to do in the surrounding neighborhoods and towns. There is also an abundance of natural resources in the downtown are with the river, falls, Lake Omtario and bay.

What is a real mom?

I really like Washington DC a lot. I like the look of the architecture, the bay windows everywhere in the very colorful houses. So many rows and rows of them. DC is so underrated in that regard.

Others mentioned that it's more Mid-Atlantic, but Mid-Atlantic has a lot of beauty to it, and basically northeastern overall. I also like all of the Maryland towns going westward, including Frederick, Hagerstown, and Cumberland. The WV ones such as Spephardstown and Morgantown are pretty cool too.
