Damn, it's Siba, not Ciba. Likewise, it's Andora, not Endora. What can I say, the owner is Darren Stevens.

Went to the winery again a few weeks ago, great time. The food is excellent.

Also, went to Blue, the bar on Duncan Manor, I think Hopes was there. Some drunk was spouting about Hampton.

A new Mexican place called Cinco just opened up on Painters Run in Mt. Lebo (or USC, not sure which?). It's in the old Walt's, which has probably seen five places fail in the 10 years I've lived here.

Doesn't have a license yet and IMO, while they try to define the menu by region, there's still too many tacos and no representation of Southern Mexico where some of the best cuisine in the country resides. Went to look at Urbanspoon for early reviews and the only review on the food was somebody who ordered fajitas of all things (a West Texas invention).

I'll probably get there soon to try some items that aren't tacos. Will let you know. Hoping for the best...

New coffee place called Generoasta to open in Warrendale Village (Warrendale-Bayne Rd at Rt 19, where Tamari is). In some ways I've thought that spot was ripe for a coffee place since it's on people's way to work. But otherwise, well, there's not much in there that brings traffic so it's really going to have to draw on its own. It seems like it intends to, with hours that go to 9pm (and 11pm on Fri/Sat) and open 7 days. Whoever's running it won't have much life!

Regular site not up yet, but some info on this Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/generoasta/info Just happened to notice the sign driving by last weekend. It does not appear to be open yet, I found on Twitter a reference to Dec 1 but not sure if that's it.

It's going to be interesting to see how they do. Part of their charter is to give away X% of profits to charity. However, a whole lot of coffeehouses never make a profit beyond poverty wages for the owners (and sometimes not even that). Looks like the owners are a couple that both have good jobs and probably intend to keep those, so maybe it'll work.

Couldn't have been me becaues we were busy trying to go to Spadaforas. Packed. Nowhere to park. We vowed we would try it off-peak someday.

I was hoping you would comment on that one. Is the coffee going to be "good" though or just so-so? They're following some of the right things on Twitter (that's about the most I figured out so far), but I'm skeptical that this is an actual third wave shop out in the Wexford-Cranberry wasteland. Always rather support an indie shop either way, but I'm curious just how far they're trying to go.

I offered to talk to the owners. All they did in response was follow my twitter feed, no other response. I have no idea who they're using as a roaster. They're all about fair trade (not direct) and are not looking for experienced baristas so I tend to doubt any 3rd wave potential.

I tried their fish tacos. Pretty good, kind of a Cali-Mex style. The only place in the area I've been able to get anything like that. Kind of expensive for lunch though and their chips and salsa cost extra. Looks like they are planning to have Corona, Negro Modelo and a few other mex beer brands on tap when they get their license.

I really do hope they sruvive but the location and signage are not great. It will need to become popular by word of mouth.
