Seems like they have the situation isolated and under control. Great job Pittsburgh Police. Probably will be over very shortly and all will be back to normal.

Greg with all the excitement going on I'm glad you thought to check in here to let us know you're ok (and let everyone know what was going on).

I was just outside. All seems fairly normal except for all the cops and that I couldn't walk through the plaza.

I walked up to Stanwix, which was open, and only went as far as 5th Avenue Place but I think it's fine.

XRite, I don't think there's any reason they would have blocked access to the Gold's area but I didn't go that far. As long as you can get there from where you are it should be fine. Stanwix is open to cars even and traffic lights are operating normally.

The news said only the 16th floor of Gateway 3 was evacuated. Guess that means police don't believe he has a bomb. But I'm a bit concerned about them announcing on TV that people are on the other floors. (Apparently they know he's watching because the police asked the news station to stop airing photographs of the building.) It is also reported that he has walkie talkie, which indicates to me that he's not in this alone. They say his mother works in the building, but not where he's at. And apparently he thinks he is due some type of benefits (the company is an insurance agency) and he's demanding to talk to someone.

The chief had said there was no indication he was not alone. I heard walkie-talkie at one point too but I don't think that was confirmed. His mother came to the scene but I didn't hear that she works in the building. Could be the case but also could be just garbled version of what happened. And there's been nothing I've seen/heard about him being due some kind of benefits, that seems like pure speculation based on the company in that office (a company that handles insurance and pension benefits).

Hm, they're announcing in here for the one side of the building to stay away from the windows. Something new is going to happen maybe? Or perhaps just making sure they are aware. Has been weirdly free of announcements in here. We're on the other side away from the action.

They're not reporting anything new. Maybe it's just a precaution to warn people away from the windows.

Yeah, I saw he accepted 9 new friends a few minutes ago. Strange.
