This might not help much, but I actually have a landlord that didn't normally allow cats but he had a recommendation from my prior landlord that told him that I was very neat and cleaned up after the cat and you could hardly tell I had a cat. I told him that my cat was well-behaved and such and he allowed her. So I say just be honest and such, and some landlords if you really want the apt. will allow them with a modest pet deposit and/or a recommendation from your prior landlord.
