Yes, after all, someone gets hired. It might be you!

You're right. And I've definitely considered the JUCO or Community college level. In fact, I might prefer it over high school, because of the control over the teaching curriculum.

You will probably have to have a master's or at least be working on it, to teach at the community college level.

He did state earlier that he was going to grad school after Robert Morris. Maybe he's still an undergraduate now. Most teachers, though, need to get a master's these days, even at the lower levels of education.

I guess I missed that. I don't know about the rules in PA, but I do know that out here it's hard to get on at a CC without a master's. You don't however, always need a teaching degree.

First of all, there is no reason for this to get nasty. I'm not comparing teaching to nursing. Nurses should be paid more. I agree that the profession has its own lengthy list of sacrifices. I'm not really sure what your point is regarding teaching.

You could have left the last sentence out altogether. No teacher in Pennsylvania that gets hired is not "up to the job". The certification requirements are very stringent.

I have been involved in teacher salary discussions before on City-Data and they have gotten very nasty. The point of my comparison was that all professionals, actually, have fairly stressful jobs. Teachers are not the only ones. What I meant about "up to the job" is that if a person can't handle the "sacrifices" they shouldn't go into teaching. I meant nothing about teacher qualifications.

I think for all professional jobs there are sacrifices of some sort such as working conditions, hours, educational requirements, etc. I don't think Pittnurse was trying to get nasty, but sorry if it was interpreted that way. Nothing that is worthwhile comes easy in this world.
