I don't know if anyone's used it yet, but I checked out the "street level view" section on google maps tonight after seeing it in the PG. WOW. It's unreal. I really feel like I'm driving around on this thing. I type in the directions and I can actually see where to turn and what to look for before I actually get in the car and leave the house. Definitely useful for the newbies like me. It also would help a little while the people who want to know what a certain neighborhood looks like. Just thought i'd pass it along in case anyone's bored and wants to waste some type "going" around town.

yeah, I was playing with it earlier as well. I found my house as well as many other familiar places. I actually did find a picture of some people I know sitting on their front porch! It's pretty amazing! It's obviously not real-time as it showed my car parked in front of my house and my car is being repaired right now. LOL.

We are one of 14 cities in the US to utilize that google feature. It just launched this past week I think.

It launched just yesterday. In fact, the Post Gazette article was posted online Monday night before it even went live on Tuesday morning!

I've been looking at that site for several months now, maybe even longer. It's possible they did some enhancements recently. There are many areas of the country represented.

The street view function is different from the satellite view.

Google Maps

Though Denver's probably been done for much longer than Pittsburgh.

I see. It is neat. I like to look at the Beaver River in Beaver Falls.

THANK YOU! I had been hoping it would hit Pittsburgh soon! It really is like driving through the neighborhoods. I "drove" through all my old neighborhoods last night!
