Hello group,

I'm another guy possibly moving to Pittsburgh from Anchorage. I'm interested in finding something west of P'burgh like Oakdale or south like Washington. Any feedback on the places in those directions? Would appreciate any knowledge you may have?

Tenoch,
I've lived in the War Streets since 1982. Real estate values have gone up in a slow and steady manner, requiring money, time and emotion. People have not been driven from the neighborhood because of escalating prices. The rebuilding of this community started in the late 60’s and is still not finished. There are plenty of vacant houses and affordable properties for sale. How is this gentrification?

The war streets are great but not for young families...I have a friend who lived there, had a child and then had to move away, to an area that was safer for her child....but for an young person, or middle aged and older, I say if you use common sense and are not afraid to live there...like that kind of hip and on the edge atmosphere, go for it! I would of 20 years ago before i got married!
