Congrats!

It sounds like your transit options have been well-covered, and it definitely makes sense to try it out a few different ways.

Note the Oxford Centre isn't too close to the main bus stops Downtown, so it will probably be a short walk if you use the bus--the First Avenue T station may be a little closer, but still a short walk. I also have a short walk Downtown to and from my bus stop and don't mind it at all (I actually enjoy it), but it is something you need to be prepared for.

Way to go Dorothy! Congratulations! We could do lunch sometimes
Now as far as commute goes:

31 bus. I think in the morning it's like every 20 min until 9am but don;t take my word for it, check it on pat transit web site.
The bus drive to and back is about 40-45 min, don;t remember. I take that bus when I take my car to the mechannic in bridgeville.

Or drive to S.Hills village and take the T. The comute is 50 min.

Or drive to Castle Shannon and take the T. Commute time 40min. if you walk to Willow from there is like 35 min.

Or get on greentree rod, make a right on Potomac, left on banksville, right on crane, left on ??? right on Woodruf through wabash tunnel to Station Sq. parking lot by the new stadium hop on the free shuttle that is like every 10 min and takes u to downtown. parking there is the cheapest in the downtown area.

Off topic, to SCR: my dear boy you are so young. Who do you think accomplished anything at your age? Mostly nobody. You have your whole life in front of you and I'm sure you will be able to reach your goals.

You should consider getting into a community garden! Honestly, I think they're way cooler than having a yard, and you might enjoy being part of one.
