Gallacus, I agree that there are other parts of the city overlooking downtown. I like the South Side slopes but after doing the Step Trek (SS Slopes tour) this past Sunday, I didn't notice any real upscale housing. What I did notice was higher than normal pricing on houses that were not upscale.
Also, whoever brought the 200 cloudy days thing up, I agree that there are over 200 cloudy days but to say they are all dark and gray is unfair. I would estimate less than half of them to be dark and gray. Sure, it rains here a little more than most other cities, but a few more rain days every year really isn't a big deal. Overall, the weather is tolerable here with the exception of a few extremely hot or cold days every year. I lived in Florida for several years and had problems resisting the heat 9 months out of the year. |

I believe technically speaking, a "cloudy" day is any sky that has X amount or X % of the sky filled with clouds. It can be mean blue or gray, hot or cold, raining or not, etc. |

Besides, as long as it isn't absolutely miserable outside (which I know it isn't in Pittsburgh cause I live here, duh) am I the only person that doesn't mind partly cloudy or cloudy days?
I mean, after all, the sun is poison (in a manner of speaking). LOL. I actually prefer the shade and a little less ultraviolet radiation, thanks. |

As for the weather, for some reason it seems to be a heated debate among Pittsburghers. Some feel its sunny and beautiful here, others feel its grey and depressing. I side with the former. Anyway, here's some fodder: Sunny Days in Pittsburgh: 145 (Not 59) |

Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania (PA) Detailed Profile - relocation, real estate, travel, jobs, hospitals, schools, crime, news, sex offenders Just scroll down a little and see I didn't make it up. Edit: I didn't notice how unpopular my comment was. Sheesh, you can go right on this site, and they have it all the stats in living color. Pittsburgh is cloudy. That's just the way it is, and again I'm not making things up. Last edited by SAI126; 10-18-2007 at 10:55 AM.. |

I think what people are trying to say is that cloudy days don't equal bad weather. Just because the sun isn't beating down on you doesn't mean that the weather is dreary or uncomfortable, no matter what the stats say.
