Taking all things into account, Alaska consistently ranks in the top 10 for most expensive states to live in, so maybe the OP will be pleasantly surprised to find he retains more of his $ in PA, will find equally liberal gun rights, an allowance to legally own a wolf, & lax speed enforcement; all that with much more pleasant weather, lots more things to do & easier access to many other places to travel too.

Thank your wife for smuggling you out of expensive & oppressive Alaska to your new found Pennsylvania paradise. William Penn would be proud.

There's no allowance to legally own a wolf. That was settled in earlier posts. But that doesn't make PA worse, it makes it a wash.

Ah, now I see that; guess I should have read further into the thread; a wash on the wolf count it is

there was a spike in wolf ownership in the second decade of the 20th century, after woodrow wilson came to power but before he banned them and went door to door taking everybody's wolves away.

You will probably hate the liquor laws here. You can't walk into any convenience or grocery store and pick up beer/wine/etc. You have to do that at "state stores" or some Giant Eagles around here. The hours vary including some state stores that are not open on Sundays.

This may be the oddest thread I have read on city data and should possibly be re-named "Reluctantly Relocating from Alaska to Pittsburgh: How do I live the same life in Pittsburgh as I did in Alaska?"

It makes me wonder about those Alaskans. Maybe we should head over to the Alaska forum and read some of their threads.
