Someone hit a deer and it is on our property by the road. What do I do? Who do I call and can I get it removed? I saw it happening yesterday, the driver did come back and stayed a little while and then drove off.

Any idea?

Thanks

Aw, what a sad thing to see happen. I know it's inevitable and deer are prone to this since they don't seem to have any sense about roads or cars--but it makes me sad, anyway.

They run thru my property, up the hill and then onto the street and they of course they dont look and they just run. Now the turkeys, they walk thru the back of the property. I love to see them all, but hate to see anything hit.

I saw a group of deer walking on the streets of Crafton when I was here in December.

If it's a state road you can call PennDOT on the hotline, 800-FIX-ROAD. Yes, I found info that says you can call that for roadkill removal as well as the usual reporting of potholes, etc. If it's a smaller township road then you would probably call them.

If you're hoping for something to happen sooner than tomorrow maybe try calling the non-emergency number for your local police (S. Fayette, right?) and see if they have any tips. The police probably know who to contact for the carcass removal so that might be the best route anyway. Don't call 911, that's a bit much, but I believe someone will answer the non-emergency police number even on weekends.

Call the non emergency police number as suggested. They will take care of it either themselves or know who to call.

Four or five summers ago, somebody hit one in front of my house, not killing it. A township police officer came along, and finished the job, talked on the radio for a few seconds, and left. An hour later, I called the township office, to be sure somebody would be out to pick it up. I'm on a state maintained road, and they told me either Penndot or the game comission would handle it.

Two weeks later, despite multiple calls by both me and my neighbor, to the township, the Game Comission, even my state representative's office, I drug the thing down into the woods myself and buried it.
