But at the very least it should serve as some impetus for more developed transportation to the airport/new office parks? That's probably just a pipe dream though...

While it would have been awesome for Chevron to lease some space downtown, their presence in the Pittsburgh area will still be a boon, especially since they're scoping out a site in Allegheny County. Even if the city doesn't directly benefit, at least the core metropolitan county does, and the city can indirectly benefit from that.

They're not scooping out a site. They already signed a lease.

Chevron expands Pittsburgh presence - Pittsburgh Business Times

It's not clear where they are considering the larger regional "campus."

Even if it ends up in Washington County, I agree it's a boon for the city.

My comments about the Gulf Oil building were in reference to Chevron buying Gulf Oil back in the early 80s.
