You will love it. we lived there for 9 years very family orientated etc...PM me if you have any other questions etc...
Kindergarten was optional in PA when we lived there don't know if it still is.
Preschools...They fill up fast (esp morinings)
*Trinity weekday school has a pre-K program. It's located at Trinity United Methodist church in a quiet neighborhood (my old neighborhood)Right off of Center church road.
I know the director and can give you the phone number if you wish
They also have a MOm's day out program for younger kids on Fridays.
*St David's Preschool they have pre-k and a K transition class for 5-6 year olds
Located in St Davids Church on McMurray Rd
(both of these have Very good reputations etc...) These are the first 2 I'd look at.
*Noah's Ark program (can remember the name of the church)
They have preschool as well as a 2 year old class and a Mommy and me class for 2 year olds(it's a fun way to get to know other moms)
located on Rt 19
*Just about kids. They go up to Kindergarten. and have afterschool programs for older kids.
*in USC... Westminister methodist church. (since it's pretty big they may have openings if others don't)
I know there are some others but I am not familiar with them.
I encourage you to get involved with the newcommers club (it's a womens club) They have a babysitting co-op where you swap babysitting points etc...(great way to get christmas shopping done etc...) some of the mom's watch 1-2 kids full time in thier houses. It's a great resource for meeting people. Book clubs, dinner clubs, bunco etc... I really miss having my nights out with friends.
As for part time child care...there was a lady in peters who ran a nanny business but don't believe she still does. Good resources are the preschools. Some teachers only work 3 days a week and are looking for other work to suppliment the pay.
I know there are a few daycare centers such as kinder care etc... in the area but I am not familiar with them.
Good luck and congratulations!!
Oh the Peter's township community center holds a great christmas party for the kids.
