Breaking from traditional grounds, The Post Gazette editorial board has decided to back Mark Desantis, a Republican as Mayor for the City of Pittsburgh. The time has come for a new direction for Pittsburgh. This election run up has really featured a non party election option as DeSantis really represents fundamental change for the city and with it the possibility of bringing the city financial picture back in line and boosting the local economy and long term population decline. Way to go Post Gazette !!

That's great to see, but there arent many choices, and the Dem choice has showed over and over his immaturity and abuse of power.

I truly think DeSantis would make a good mayor. There would be bumps for sure. Breaking the traditional way Pittsburgh has been run as a city will be tough. But Mark Desantis is more in line with some of the newer types out there in City leadership such as
John Hickenlooper of Denver and RT.Rybak of Minneapolis. Think out of the box and run the city more as a business. It will be very interesting to see if the voters take this DeSantis surge to the polls. This is really a huge fundamental change of thought and process for Pittsburgh and one of the few remaining strongholds from the industrial past.

I really hope DeSantis wins. It seems to me that Pittsburgh needs leadership that looks to the future, and I like what I hear from DeSantis.

Ha ha Pittnurse, I know... Just got back from a few drinks at my fav watering hole in Shadyside and that is what the reaction of the people I heard talking was. 'Can you believe that the PG stepped over the line' shocking but refreshing!

I kind of wouldn't mind seeing a GOP Mayor. Change is good. (sometimes) Of course, on the other hand, It's been a long time since we had Democrats running the Legislature, and it's about time for that to happen as well.
