I live in Morgantown, and for a young person I think that Mo-town would be much preferable to Uniontown. It's very college oriented, though, and the rental market can stupidly expensive, but it has a nice, crunchy college town vibe and is only an hour and 15 to an hour and 20 minutes from Pittsburgh.

Any suggestions for apartment complexes/landlords? Most of the apartments have bad reviews on Apartment Rating.com

In Morgantown, you mean?

Most of the big complexes are geared toward the college students, and there are a LOT of crappy landlords in town. What's her price range, and what kind of places/neighborhoods does she like? Nice neighborhoods are South Park (if you want to be close to downtown, with a mix of professionals and a few students, but not too studenty, lots of grand old houses, like mine!), Suncrest (an older, more family scene but more sedate), Cheat Lake (farther out but quiet, expensive, but also older). If you let me know what she might want I can curate a selection of Craigslist ads that are least likely to suck.

Edit: Also feel free to PM me, so we don't pollute the Pittsburgh form with West Virginia talk!

Budget would be less than $1000 including utilities and a sedate neighborhood. All she needs is a one bedroom apt. Someone on the WV board, suggested Cheat Lake but it sounds too quiet for a 22 year old. Thanks.

How do I PM you?

I'd agree that Morgantown maybe best for your daughter. Younger vibe, closer to Smithfield, and straight shot up I-79 and the Parkway West into Pittsburgh.

To PM someone, you click on their name. That'll take you to their 'Home Page' where you can send them a Private Message (PM).
