Dazzling Northern Lights Anticipated Tonight - AccuWeather.com

Can anyone suggest a good place to go to get away from the city lights to try to see this?

Cloud cover will be a bigger problem than city lights. As a result I wouldn't plan on staying in one place. I'd get on the interstate and drive around.

That's awesome! Thanks so much for posting this; it would be fantastic to be able to see an aurora first-hand!

After looking at the map, I think I'm going to head up 79 towards cooper's lake. Hoping the clouds give us a break.

Even though it is cloudy and depressing 80% of the time, I think tonight we might be okay. You are more likely to see the moon and stars in Pittsburgh than the sun.

I saw one last year driving to work. It was a spectacular orange, and green plasma show.

I'm not sure how time-sensitive this link will be, but the NWS site has an "Hourly Weather Forecast Graph", and one of the parameters charted is sky cover. Currently, it forecasts it as 71% at around 10 p.m., dropping quickly and stabilizing at around 30% by 2 a.m., before going back up some by daybreak.

Hourly Weather Forecast for 40.59N 80.31W

Saddly, there were lots and lots of clouds at the forcasted optimum time for radiation.

Got clear later, but nothing in the sky of any note.
