I wish I understood it myself. I am not picky about burgers, at all, but I have never been happy with Tessaros. I never get a burger (or any other red meat) anything more than medium. A burger cooked medium shouldn't be dry. I've found their burgers flavorless and dry on numerous occasions - I have never been pleased with a burger I got there.

Perhaps the burgers aren't seared quickly enough after getting on the grill? Searing and creating that crust help keep the moisture in the burger.

Yeah, I only order FFs if I have someone to split them with. I prefer my potatoes mashed.

Wow. Just getting a break at the office to check in, and this thread really took off during lunch (hungry, are we, forum friends?) Thanks a lot for all of the insight. Right now Rivertowne on the North Shore is leading for us for Sunday simply so we can sit outside overlooking the fountain, which I have not seen operational since moving here. There are just so many more ideas, though! We're so fortunate to have so many options!

I've found that Burgatory Robinson > Burgatory Waterworks. And there is a Five Guys a few storefronts down the plaza.

Of that list the only burger I had that I can say I truly disliked is wingharts (& I've had a few different varieties of theirs). Some seasoning in the meat I don't like.

I'm a big fan of Burgatory and Tesaro's burgers.

Tessaro's is beating BRGR. This is a grave injustice, haha. I do like Tessaro's, though.

I don't think Harris Grill belongs on the list. It's not really a burger joint, but more of a casual sit-down sandwich shop that has a variety of different things. If you include that, then you might as well include places like the Union Grill (or Eat 'N' Park!).

I'd argue for the Union Grill's inclusion because their burger is sort of their keystone menu item, even though they do offer a ton of stuff other than that.

I liked BRGR well enough but felt they were a little overrated given the hype. If going for a gourmet burger, I'd hands down take Burgatory over them. I'd probably also pick Tessaro's over BRGR as well. My list:

1. Burgatory
2. Wingharts
3. Tessaro's
4. BRGR
