Young Professionals in Butler area
I'm a young adult thinking about moving to the Butler area. What is there to do around here for single young adults? Anything? I've heard that this is a growing area.

Martian,
Actually, there is a town south of Butler called Mars . You might feel at home there.
On a more serious note, it is a growing area, but mostly in southern Butler Co. Westinghouse is in the process of moving to Cranberry (the SW corner of the County) which will bring in some young professionals.
If you're looking for the stereotypical "hip" stuff, there isn't much in the city of Butler that I'm aware of. There is a good deal of that stuff in Pittsburgh, though, if you don't mind a bit of a drive.

Actually Mars is an itty bitty town that doesn't have much going on, what you'll really be looking for when you do research is Adam's Township.

The city of Butler is not a particularly growing area.
The county of Butler is growing extensively, particularly in the SW corner near Cranberry, Mars, Adams, etc. as mentioned in other posts.
It depends on how you define 'what is there to do', but essentially anything the City of Butler has, SW Butler County has ten-fold. Also, you can get to downtown Pittsburgh in 20 minutes from Cranberry, it would take an hour to get there from Butler.

Cranberry?
So what I'm getting here is that Cranberry or SW Butler would be a better place for a younger single person to look at...
What are the school districts like around there (I'm a special education teacher)?

They are good, when the teachers aren't on strike like they are now.

Definately Seneca Valley School District. They make the most in Butler County, the average is around $54,000 a year. Also, it would be great to buy a place there. It will appreciate more in Butler than in Allegheny.

I think as a young single professional person, you would be bored in Butler County. Just come on down to the city and live it up.
