Hey, everyone is allowed on the bandwagon. And if they do make the playoffs, most diehard fans won't be able to afford the tickets.

It’s almost like they’d rather have something to complain about than something to embrace.
Pittsburgh has to have one of the highest percentages of people who refuse to be happy of any major metropolitan area in the United States. After Super Bowl XLIII, many Steeler fans preferred to ***** about the defense blowing a late lead and almost losing the game than celebrate the victory. They're probably the same people who refer to hard data illustrating positive socioeconomic trends in Pittsburgh as "lies."

By the way, anybody who loves the Steelers and/or Penguins but hates the city deserves a kick in the balls.

At the time, the Pirates were considered one of the biggest jokes in the league, much like they are today. A similar story can be told about the dark days of the 1980s turning over into the success of the early 90s. A certain football team was beyond putrid for 40 years. Same old Steelers was the local mantra. Then a new coach came in. 1-13 became 5-9, then 6-8, then 11-3. All of a sudden, the worst franchise in the league became the best. The Steelers have been the most successful team in the league since the merger. Who would have thunk it in 1970?

Unfortunately they'd have to trade for another backup. Sanchez isn't the answer yet as he's got plenty of his own throwing problems, not just with throwing to right side of 2b, but also airmailing throws the 3b after a strikeout. Most backup catchers are no bargain. That's why they're backups. Maybe they can drag Jason Jaramillo off whatever sandlot he's playing on these days.

Meantime, FOUR All-Stars. Maybe five if Bochy needs a catcher to replace Yadi. Martin would be the logical next choice.
