And yeah, tallysmom, it's 21 in every state now. My bro and his friends used to go to Ohio, back in the day. Can't do that any more.
I thought Ohio was near beer and no liquor. Brent was a tequila sunrise boy....

Ohio beer was low alcohol content like 3.2. To drink hard stuff you had to be 21.

That was more than you could get in PA and it was only 15 miles away.

Get out of Florida while you can. It's a sinking ship. Lucky for you you're a young man without mortgage(s) there. Florida could be good if you can find an affordable place to live and you do stuff like blow leaves or fix air conditioners. Otherwise, it is an intellectual wasteland devoid of interest or value for what you pay. It's great to see so many Floridians thinking about Pittsburgh! I just wish I moved sooner. The price of living is so low in Pittsburgh compared to Florida. I am quite certain that the actual number of jobs in the region - BECAUSE IT IS MORE THAN 2 MILLION PEOPLE - compares favorably to anyone coming from any particular Florida city. Pittsburgh is like a city-state. it is far more than the 320,000 just in the city limits. When you get there, it feels like a metropolis, and a REAL city, unlike anything Florida has. Compared to anyplace in Florida, Pittsburgh is Europe - in terms of history, architecture, things to do and see, smart people, etc.

Just make sure you have a decent job lined up before you move. Pittsburgh's job market is tough, especially if you don't have any kind of education beyond high school. Remember that this is part of the "Rust Belt." It's got a much slower economy than the "Sun Belt".

Pittsburgh does have nice amenities, architecture, geography, history, etc. It's just a shame that the economy isn't better.

One time I was at the Coors factory and they were talking about some non-alcoholic beer they called "near beer". I KNEW I had heard that term before, but I couldn't remember where/when. Now I know. Another mystery solved.

It's funny you say that. I've always thought that too about Pittsburgh. I live it Tampa, but go back to Pittsburgh often to see family. Downtown Pittsburgh blows downtown Tampa away hands down. It just has so much character compared to Tampa's dead and soul-less downtown. And Oakland - just so much urban interest. I mean, how cool is it that the Soldiers and Sailors Memorial is copy of an ancient wonder of the world - the Tomb of Helincarnassus (sp?). I'm still here FLA because of the job. But I would love to get back to Pittsburgh.
