I rented in an apartment near point breeze and Forbes bought them out and took over. They were a mixed bag. The good: They were responsive, and it was easy to get a hold of someone. They made some improvements to the apartment complex. They have offices right on 5th you can walk into and talk to someone if you need to, which helps. The negatives, at least at the place I rented: they required a 6 month notice when you wanted to leave (which was a real pain in the ass) and raised the rent quite a bit every year. The rent increase could be the area..but the 6 month lease sucked.

You're planning on riding the bus into campus, right?

I can tell you that I rode the 71B from Highland Park into Oakland this morning and it took about 30 minutes.

The area of that building isn't too sketchy or bad, in my opinion.

I routinely ride my bike up and down that hill and I've never noticed anything shady or out of the ordinary, and I've never felt unsafe.

The 87 runs right past the building on Stanton Ave. You can walk right down to the intersection of Stanton and Negley to pick up other bus routes (about .5-.75 mile walk).

I've parked a newer nicer car in that area for years and haven't had an issue. Not saying it won't happen, but it is just as likely to happen there as Shadyside or Lawrenceville.

i've also contemplated this place, though it doesnt include heat. i dont know how much heat would cost during winter. im a typical cold nature guy and i enjoy cold, so i doubt id run the heat high.
