South Hills Village Mall (and the Galleria that you mentioned) is a short drive from the area you are looking at. There are several grocery stores close by including a very nice Market District Giant Eagle. There are many doctors, hospitals etc nearby. The area also has many shops and restaurants. Many of them you will be able to walk to in nice weather.

I have been looking at the King's Grant and Jamestown Condos which I'm not sure classifies at Mt. Lebo or Dormont. Either way, does anyone know anything about these units? I can't seem to find much about them on the web (pics/reviews) which makes me question why?

if you are looking at the kings grant or jamestown area... you would be moving into scott township. not mt. lebanon. kings grant is a nice area with a pool... a family member of mine lived there at one time not too long ago. the condos are a little small... but if you are looking to move into the houses im sure you'll love it. they seem to be very nice... have not been in one though.

in the pittsburgh area... mt lebanon is known to be a one of the upscale areas. as for price its pennsylvania... wat do you expect? but lebo maybe not be as rich as NA or USC but lebo does offer a variety of different class groups. over all i feel you have nothing to worry about when it comes to bad areas. yes marcolm is a very nice area... but so are most of the elementary schools here. there are 7... and all named after presidents. virginia manor is the most expensive area to live in for they have the mansions. but you should be glad to know the mt. lebanon police force is very strict and they take their jobs very seriously. there are many undercovers, so not much flyies around here that they dont know about. i hope you come to love mt. lebanon for the highschool especially is top rated in the country. also i read some of your previous posts and the other upscale areas in pittsburgh you were looking at have serious drug problems. mt lebanon is no angel... but hopefully you teach your kids to be very good academically and they will most likely stay out of trouble. the school is seperated. there are the kids that have 4.3 and are all on the national honors society and then there are the kids that feel they cant compare. so they give up. i know from personal experience from seeing it in others but as long as your kids are active im sure they wont get in trouble. but yes welcome to mt. lebanon... a community that is involved.

I lived in Mt. leb for a couple of years and did not care for it, too congested. But it is a nice community, all posts about police are correct! I think it has more of a community feel than many other suburban areas, lots of activities for children, too. Property values remain great - it's a stable community.
I had friends who lived in the condo's you mentioned. They are nice, but right off of a busy, busy road. But as previous post said, they are in Scott Township, not Mt. Leb. Your other North Hills choices are beautiful communities, much more spacious, but no small town feel. |

I lived in Mt. lebo for 11 years and just because it looks nicer doesn't mean there isn't "bad" things going on..For example the drug use in the highschool is ramped. There is more sex offenders living in Mt. lebo than Dormont and the other surrounding areas. The only thing going for Mt. lebo is the fact the people have more $ to cover up all it's downfalls and make everything so "pretty"
I would never live there again just on the basis of the peoples stuck up attitudes |

I know that this entry is late: However if you wish to raise a family and have the childeren go to a WONDERFUL school district, you can do much worse that Lebo.
Mt Lebanon Schools are definately very high up in quality in coarse study and college prep. When I went there one of my class-mates was one Mark Cuban - I think he did alright. |
