NoVA or south west Ohio here.

Which is interesting because my mother and her side of the family are primarily from the areas of that state with which my dialect is most similar. Must have picked that up from her despite never living anywhere close to that region.

Taking the longer one now. I will be interested in the results. In shorter versions, I always get "no specific dialect detected" or "you have picked up dialects from various areas." One said I had a Minnesota accent. Never stepped foot in the state. However, I have lived all over since I was little, Kansas, Texas, North Carolina, back to Kansas, then Virginia, now Pennsylvania.

1. Elizabeth NJ
2. Newark NJ
3. Baltimore MD
4. Toms River NJ
5. Greensboro NC

I grew up around 10 miles away from Elizabeth, NJ, and spent most of my life in Washington, DC, so it's fairly accurate. The only place that doesn't fit is NC, where it is entirely possible my feet have never touched the ground.

I too have lived all over but mostly in VA And NC. My results were unusual in that I did not know any area of CA had a similar dialect to VA and NC.
1.Visalia CA 34.3
2 Greensboro NC 34.3
3 Arlington VA 34.3
4 Winston-Salem NC 34.2
5 Fresno CA 34.0

Huh. Mine goes southern it seems. I'd like to take the longer one when I have time, should be interesting. I've got a feeling that the closer is only marginally so, but I'm not sure. I grew up in a only very marginally southern area in far eastern WV next to MD. The mid-Atlantic influence was more than southern. Although I suppose there is still some southern influence in Washington DC and so forth. And Maryland, although not that much in MD. My parents are one from SW PA and one from NY state (southeastern NY state but not in the city). The one from this area lived in NY most recently before moving to WV. So, I didn't grow up with a lot of SW PA influence, and it wasn't a local WV dialect at home (although it was with some others you could argue I suppose, although fair number of transplants around us I think). I lived there for 20 years and here for 20 years, with a 9-month stint in Philly in there somewhere.

I was stumped by at least one question wherein I knew the concept (frontage road/service road/etc) but don't myself choose any of those terms. I didn't want to answer that we have those but I don't have a word, because we don't have those here or really where I grew up either. I don't remember what I chose actually. Heh.

Deadset in Michigan/Minnesota.

Took the longer one and it was more accurate. My family is from that region of NC and i went to college six years in Carolina. Although I grew up in southeast VA I always had a more Southern accent than most. I guess the time I lived in Seattle rubbed off on me too. Pittsburgh was very last for me even though I have picked up some words.
