Beechview is a middle-class area that I believe is relatively safe. Primarily was Italian and now has a growing Mexican community. Public transportation is good with direct light rails service to downtown and South Hills Village mall.

I live in Beechview, and I like it. I've never felt unsafe, and never had any trouble with theft or crime. There are occasionally groups of loitering teenagers, but they don't seem to cause any trouble. The business district needs some work--there's lots of potential there--but having a grocery store within walking distance is nice, and if you drive, there are tons of retail options on Banksville Rd. and West Liberty Ave, and South Hills Village is not far by car or T.
