I really appreciate what Market Square does for Downtown. I wish they hadn't gotten rid of all of the grass when they redid it, but now that the trees have grown in a bit it still feels a little green, at least.

I know I'm super weird for thinking this, but I really like this pedestrian tunnel / covered sidewalk on William Penn Place. Pittsburgh as a city is just large enough to have this kind of dingy, half-lit, tiled tube running underneath a big building. Smaller cities/towns tend not to have these, and in bigger cities they're more commonplace. But in Pittsburgh this is the only one I know of. It's so utilitarian: a great place to walk when it's raining, and I see everyone in there from bums to businesspeople in suits to the guy who's always selling flowers at one end.

But other than that, I'd say the three sisters bridges. Not only are they pretty, they make it a snap to get to the North Side. We're fortunate to have so many bridges, and non-highway ones at that. For instance, NYC has very few bridges into and out of manhattan. You can't bike across the bay bridge (San Fransisco <-> Oakland) or the Ambassador Bridge (Detroit <-> Windsor), and in other places the crucial transportation link bridge is harrowing to bike across (Mount Hope Bridge). I know our rivers are much narrower than the spans of these other bridges, but it's nice to have such good connectivity!

I put other - but I really should have voted the response that included architecture. My favorite feature is actually the large number of older buildings, say along Fourth Ave, when compared to other cities.

The generational diversity of Downtown's architecture is definitely 1a for me.

I voted for Point State Park, mostly because I love love love love adore and am generally rapturous about kayaking around downtown. And I was very fond of the rubber ducky. And Market Square, the funny tiled walkway mentioned above, PPG Wintergarden, the ice rink, oh heck - I love all of downtown Pittsburgh.

Me three! I love to walk around and notice the details in buildings. For example - all the lions.
