We have decided to rent in the woodbrigde area....the apartments near ross mall are awesome (the mews, the lenox oval), however, we decided we wanted to live a little south of there to avoid the mall traffic and lights.

However, I was very impressed with pitt, if I was still single I would live in shadyside.

Our apt is 7 miles to the north shore parking lot, so I think this should be a decent daily commute

Now to figure out Alco parking and any shortcuts to get to work everyday...lol
Are you referring to the Woodbridge Condos in Ross Township?

I have a rental property there, it's a nice little place, very close to Downtown, as you no doubt know. Just play by the rules and you'll have a good time.

Good choice. The close North Hills is very close to town, and an easy drive.

If you want to try a bus commute from there, the Thompson Run has just a few runs a day, but its a pretty quick trip.

Hello! I actually live in North Oakland.. a few blocks from the end of Shadyside. If you're taking the East busway at Negley station, then yes the ride would be 15 minutes. However, if you're taking a regular bus that goes all through the town then its atleast a half hour & busses fill up quick in the morning.

I like how someone suggested Ross Twp. It really is a great area. Minimal crime- if any. Shopping, dining all at your ifingertips! If you're bussing it, there is a "Mcknight Flyer" bus... It's the O12 if you wanted to search it on portauthority.org It ONLY runs during peak morning hours 6-8/9? and peak afternoon hours 3-6/7?.

Maybe something on the T would be best for you. You could get off the subway at Gateway Station and then you're right there at work!

Best wishes

totally newbie question

how does the T work for the free zone? Do I have to show a parking lot ticket? Or can anyone board the train and get downtown (and back)

No ticket required...anybody can use it for free between the North Shore and downtown through First Ave.

At least, it is free for now, there is an agreement for sponsorship until 2015 with the Steelers, Rivers Casino, ALCO parking and the Stadium Authority.
