The plans for a stadium in Oakland are so bad they're almost offensive.

Relocate Frick Fine Arts, pave over Schenley Plaza and Panther Hollow, force out some Panther Hollow residents, and fill in a valley with a stadium that will dwarf the surrounding architecture. What's more, the stadium will be used about six afternoons a year and will have a shelf-life---using the figures quoted for Heinz Field by the plans---of only about 30 years.

I get the appeal of a football-only stadium on campus, but it's not going to happen for a while, until some of the Upper Campus facilities are due for replacement. Surrounding neighborhoods that have some room are Hazelwood and the Hill District, but in my opinion a football stadium used six times a year by an ostensibly non-profit organization is not a good use of university or neighborhood resources.

Pitt should try to hire Pelini. He's almost local.

If Pitt wants to be relevant, get top recruits, win, etc..., they need to pay up for a coach and assistants. Until then and even then it may/will be a stepping stone job...and no top recruits are going to come to a lackluster program where the coach who recruited them isn't going to stay around. The only guy that would have done that was Wannstedt. What many don't want to understand is that 99% of the time it's all about the money.

What's that mean, he's gonna stay?

He's from Youngstown. Pittsburgh isn't as nice as Lincoln, but it's much nicer than Youngstown.

So are you saying if he gets hired at Pitt that he's going to stay?

Not really. Mostly I just got used to watching him and if he came here I could keep doing so more easily.

Oh. That should help make the decision to hire him easier.

Seriously though, it matters not who they hire. It will never be a significant football program.
