This defeat will go down in history along side the 48-14 loss to Penn State in 1982 after Pitt led 14-0.

Pitt defense looked exhausted in 4th quarter as they gave up 29 points.

Pitt still had a shot to kick a field goal to win they game after they got the kickoff with 59 seconds left. Poor clock management, no pass protection and the majority of Voytik's passes not being close to the receivers sealed the deal. Boyd, however, dropped a pass that would've given Pitt a shot at a field goal.

While this defeat may be monumentally pathetic and bewildering... it won't 'go down in history'... because it's a completely irrelevant era for Pitt football... unlike 48-14... which had national implications for two elite programs.

100% on coaching.
First off, your 'hands' team for obvious onside kicks should not have backup linebackers, backup defensive tackles, and A KICKER.

Secondly, on the 2nd one Nicholas Grigsby was 2 feet from sideline. I was taught in midgets to knock it out of bounds(or, let it go as it would have been).

So while it is a who cares situation, it ends the era perfectly. Exactly what we came to expect over the past 20 years, and sealed it with one last wth game. Also guarantees that if Nard Dog was considering any of these guys for positions on the staff, he sure isn't now!

I thought Voytik started off slow but played excellent. Boyd had more than 1 drop, as much as I like the guy he had a really bad game by his standards.

Coaching was fine. 100% lack of sealing the deal. There's no excuse for letting it get away. The players choked and another bad loss that will be long remembered.

so having linebackers, a kicker and a dt, instead of rb's and wr's, fielding onsides kicks is 'fine'?

playing a true cover-2 with trips to 1 side and another wr to the other side is fine?

up 28 points with under 8 minutes left and passing multiple times in the red zone is fine?

please explain, ill wait for you to google cover-2...

What happened has happened before. The "set back" already was. This was a small time bowl game with interim staff. It sucks yes - on so many levels, but at the end of the day a new coach is coming.

I'm betting you had zero issues before they started to choke. They may have done the opposite of everything you're critiquing and I would bet on the same outcome. It's just an ending to the same kind of season they've had all year. A "microcosm" and "typical" are the words most being used by many in regards to today's game.

The funny thing was Narduzzi and his family were at the game. As a defensive coordinator, he must have blown a gasket watching that meltdown.

Bitter sweet. That game and this season will be an easy act to follow for him. After today he will have even more support and confidence than before. Always a good thing.

So tell me then . If you had to just recover 1 on sides kick out of 2 would you
a. Put in players used to handling the ball?
b. Put in 280 lb dts, backup linebackers, and a kicker in, players who never handle the ball?

If the other team was running 5 guys on routes and had to throw deep and do it really fast would you
a. Run a 7 man front cover 2
b. I don't know, put in enough dbacks to actually cover the receivers?

Hey maybe I'm wrong and you are right for a change, we will see in the next few days if House has a power 4 DC job or not. But seriouslythey teach this stuff in midgets..
