I love messing with folks like that. I might even have to find some $2 bills and Susan Anthony coins to pay for it.

LOL That sounds like a hoot. Look, here's an article from 20 years ago in the Beaver County Times about Villa Di:

Beaver County Times - Google News Archive Search

It's a scan of the paper via Google; you'll have to pan around through an image of the page to read it. I haven't finished it yet even, but it's hilarious and there are some pics.

Here's the thing though, it says Chubby Maruca was 63 years old in October of 1993. Is he really still there at 83 years old?!? Maybe he is!

It does say at the end of the article that he's not retiring and he might have to put up a sign about that.

He says in the article he won't retire and hasn't had a vacation since the 60's or something like that. Goodness, he sounds like a character. He makes thin pizza and says if you want a loaf of bread go to a grocery store. Sounds like my kind of pizza.

You'll actually have to leave the city and hit some red lights. Maybe he'll deliver.

Police Station Pizza in Ambridge has what's referred to as Pizza Nazi/s but not to the degree of that gentleman. Its Sicilian/Beto's type pizza. Pretty good stuff.

I was in The House of 1000 Beers in New Ken the other night and the owner ordered some pizza for a group celebrating something. I am uncertain where the pizza came from, but I think it came from the Rosa's (link below). It looked like a pretty thin pizza that might qualify for what you are looking for. I think I am going to try it soon. Even if it doesn't work out, the House of 1000 Beers is pretty cool, even though it has TVs. Really big beer selection and nice people working there.

I just saw they might now sell their own pizza there. Not sure though.

I think the pizza sounds good, and being someone that eats and drinks in PGH city bars often, it largely depends on the location of your place, the specials you have, etc. And having a trivia night (Pittsburgh loves trivia?) I suppose it is tough serving only pizza if you don't want to just be a college bar in this town, but that is just my 2 cents.

Don't bet on that place ever being opened.

Mountain State Brewing Co. | Born & Brewed in Thomas, WV
Works great here, though. Went to the Morgantown location a couple Saturdays ago. Surprisingly, except for a few at the bar, very few collegiates...and it was busy most all night. Great beers and what they call "flatbread" pizza.
