A presidential visit to West Mifflin, I don't think they will be taking a plane that they would be able to land at the County Airport- although it would be as convenient as heck if they did.

Expect some, perhaps large, traffic problems between Greater Pitt and the Irvin Works as the motorcade makes it through.

Somebody suggested to me that the military air activity Tuesday might indicate that while Air Force One will land at PIT, he might take a helicopter over to Allegheny County Airport. I don't know whether that's true or not, but it would make good sense. Even stopping all the other traffic, PIT to West Mifflin and back would be a time consuming drive...

I was wondering that as well. Thinking it through some more, it seems like stopping the traffic on that drive would be quite the nightmare. It's one thing to downtown as that is a limited access highway. I don't really know how they would drive to West Mifflin and be able to stop all the traffic. Would take way too much manpower.

The FAA has two TFRs (Temporary Flight Restriction), one for 30 miles around the Montour VOR, which is near PIT, and the other around the Allegheny VOR which is closer to AGC. It's down near Trax Farms. That would also seem to indicate he'll be in and out of AGC.

If it's a helicopter though why wouldn't he just fly right to the plant?

PS You know a lot about aviation for a ditch digger.

It's probably procedurally easier to plan a landing at an airport, rather than an off-airport location. Stat Medevac is happy to land in a shopping center parking lot in an emergency situation, but the Secret Service is probably a little finicky about where Marine One lands...

True.

Guess we'll see. If he lands at the airport they still have to ferry in the motorcade vehicles. But then they're probably doing that for the other places he is going anyway.

Is West Mifflin all he's doing while he's in town?

Saw the choppers fly over my house a few minutes ago.

I guess he's going to talk about jobs since he alluded to that in his MD Costco speech this morning. Maybe he's going to announce that Costco is taking over ALL of Century III mall, lol.

As an aside, how awesome would it have been if he opened his speech this morning with:
