I live in Pittsburgh but I'm currently from new york city....theirs something about Pittsburgh that I just don't find attractive. Theirs hardly any jobs here...I am black so that could be a reason why. Extremely cold temperatures, yea New York is cold too but seriously who likes cold weather? You have to drive like 2 hours to get somewhere literally....if you want to go somewhere be prepared for a long drive, a lot of smokers, being single in Pittsburgh like I am is not the place you want to be. All the women including the hot girls are all taken, crazy drivers with very little patience, all Pittsburgh cares about us sports-they live and breath it-when their sports team loses they whine and cry-like it's the end of the world. Seriously where's the good sportmenship? Pittsburgh has no seriousness about them, just sports 24/7. The city is completely run down with all of their steel mills and stuff. No wonder why the city is one of the most polluted in the country. Healthcare is bad. City is somewhat safe...their are shootings every now and then. I wouldn't reccomend anyone to move here in terms of retiring. It's a complete sh$$ hole no joke. lol my parents tell me oh it's not that bad well id rather live in St. Louis than Pittsburgh.....they say it's dangerous in St. Louis but their are nice areas to live too if you like the Midwest.

So, where exactly are all these polluting "steel mills and stuff"?

If you don't like it here, fine, different strokes for different folks.

Just don't let the door smack you in the can on the way out.

I am originally from Long Island and NYC. There is a lot in Pittsburgh that I find attractive. For one, if you do have a job, the cost of living and quality of life is so much better. Owning a home is in the realm of possibility, in NYC not so much. Pittsburgh has bad traffic during the rush hour, but it pales in comparison to the wall to wall rat race rush that occurs on a daily basis in NYC. I agree that being single is tough, but if you are married or in a steady relationship this place can't be beat. Also, this place has much better access to the great outdoors. NYC is wall to wall people and that includes its parks. Sports and smoking is a definite characteristic of the older yinzer generation, but I am glad they are still here and haven't been completely pushed out, unlike in NYC where I see less and less native New Yorkers. As for shootings, every city has shootings. Heck, in NYC, they are now even shooting cops. Pittsburgh is actually a nice place to retire. One magazine even rated it a top place to retire. There are a lot of older people around and a lot of outdoor and cultural activities to keep one involved. Better than being holed up in some retirement trailer community in Florida. This place isn't perfect, but it has so much to offer.

Typical Pittsburgher. Poor grasp of grammar, one tooth, and dirty from all those 'steel mills and stuff'. I'll bet he's boring, too!
