I haven't noticed any trolls on this forum lately. Am I a "troll" because I discuss the bad aspects of Pittsburgh along with the good? I don't think discussing the bad along with the good makes one a troll, unless the discussion is "over-the-top" and deliberately inflammatory.

I wouldn't categorize you as a troll, kpoeppel, but we certainly have some people who do this still.

It's tantamout to being part of a group discussion where ONE person weighs in on EVERY topic being discussed, monopolizing the conversation -- and much of what this person has to say is of questionable value. After a while, you start to tune out what this individual has to say.
Further, if I'm considering relocating to a community, and the facts indicate that this particular region has absolutely abysmal job growth, I want to know that in advance. I don't need someone blowing smoke up people's skirts about how wonderful a community is if the reality is that you're going to spend most of your time there unemployed.
Am I gloom and doom? No. I'm a realist. I refuse to lead people on if reality is different from some people's perceptions of reality.

Frankly, I think it is admirable that he goes and has gone to such great lengths to answer folks' questions and provide suggestions about the area. Keep in mind, nobody is forcing you to read any particular thread of any particular forum. If you don't like somebody or something, don't read it. :-)

That a poster is optimistic about Pittsburgh does not mean he or she has their facts straight.
And trust me...I make it a habit to skip over a 'certain individual's' posts. It's not worth my time to read them.

I think the general feel for most cities and small towns these days is that foreclosures ae high and jobs are scarce...Everywhere you go...and the way we figure it is here, we rather be somewhere we wish to be, if its gonna happen, its gonna happen, may as well be somewhere we rather be stuck in..but I Had learned this the hard way, I am presently somewhere that I totally dislike...lack of culture, lack of diversity, lack of just bout everything imaginable not to meniton alot of paranoid people who dislike you cause you ain't from around here...seriously..i have come to learn that its better to be in your terriorty as you get older, and as your children grow..well that is my opinion for what it is worth on here anyhow, coming to see its best for me to just shut up and not express it too here

No absolutely not -- we can have truly different ideals politically, geographically and philosophically and DISCUSS them. That's the difference. A troll says something inflammatory, then watches every one get upset and doesn't enter the discourse, except to spread more manure. A troll takes our differences and uses them to pit us against each other.

I for one wish I had put a certain person on "ignore". But that's all over and done for now. It's interesting to me that the people I have had the most trouble with on this forum have later lost their membership.

You're not man, you and I have had some great discussions and have provided great info on Erie.
I'm most likely the center of negative attention. I am far from being a troll. I am intelligent, but a smart arse. I don't sugar coat things, and am blatantly honest, and that doesnt always go over so well.
I enjoy posting on this board and on the other PA forums. I feel I've provided alot of information and have been thankful when others have provided such for me. We are all individuals and sometimes I think that isn't always allowed to come out in our discussions. I understand not wanting an all out brawl break out, but in real life, not everyone sits around and agrees with every single point. This is a discussion group that is literally seen by people all over the world. Some will agree with what you say, some wont, some will love you, some will despise you, it's a fact of life. We all need to think about that before we type something, and I feel unless someone is using foul language, racially motivated remarks or pictures, etc, or consistently causing nonsense, we should be allowed to be who we are without being banned all the time.
