I like the way you responded to the question how well written and so helpfully for individuals like me planning to relocate to the area.

Thanks a lot for this info. Good to know this diversity can be found in the city. (I was expecting it would be in some specific suburb.) I am originally from India. Any points of interest to Indians -- such as restaurants -- that you are aware of in this area?

What are some restaurants you would recommend that we eat at while we visit Pittsburgh. Any kind of good food.

I would try to experience things that are uniquely Pittsburgh.

You HAVE to go to Primanti Bros for lunch. You may love it, you may hate it, but it's a must. (Just don't let it be known if you hate it, you may get beat up).

I would definitely go to Atria's. There are about six in Pittsburgh but it's definitely a Pittsburgh thing.

There are some great Italian places. There are some great places downtown. What are you looking for??

I looked up Primanti and Atria's websites. Look yummy, will definitely try them out.

Not a big fan of Italian.

Any Mexican, Thai, or Japanese restaurants? Also, any organic grocery stores that carry a menu?

There is a very good up-scale Thai restaurant called Typhoon. I would also HIGHLY recommend a place in Shadyside called Soba.

PLEASE do yourself a favor and go to Soba, it's Pan-Asian. It is one of my favorites.

SOBA Lounge | 412.362.5656

Another VERY nice place to eat is Red Room Cafe and Lounge.

Look into Shadyside and Squirrel Hill, there are a ton of very nice and very Pittsburgh places to eat.

That's a possibility. Maybe someone can answer. There is a growing population in Pittsburgh fueling a very organic and earthy food movement.

Here are three other places I would HIGHLY recommend when you are in Pittsburgh. The one is a Japanese house on the south side called Nakama. It is VERY busy all the time, call for reservations.

Nakama Japanese Steak House

Another is in the SouthSide Works called Tusca Mediterranean Tapas. It's wonderful.

Also, I would definitely check out a Crazy Mocha while you are in town. They are born out of Pittsburgh, there are several in the city. They our version of Starbucks but are much more fun. I love them.

Crazy Mocha Coffee Company

Oh, if you like steak, there is a GREAT Pittsburgh Steak House called Pittsburgh Rare. The view is gorgeous. It's in Station Square.

Pittsburgh Rare - Steak. Done well.

My niece, a Colorado native, moved to Pittsburgh and said there is virtually no good Mexican food there. I believe her. This topic came up a while back, and many people posted about Mexican restaurants they like, but I think Pittsburgh's interpretation of Mexican is quite different from the southwest's. Plus, there are very few Mexicans in Pittsburgh to give some guidance.
