Local civics
Who runs the school system in the Pittsburgh area -- county or city? Is there something called Allegheny County school system, I have not been able to find their website.
Also, a brief intro to the variety of taxes in the Pittsburgh area / Allegheny county would be great.
And, I was wondering if mayor Ravenstahl has been able to carry out reforms (and/or is he inclined to carry out reforms)?

The public schools within the citys limits are governed by the........City of Pittsburgh Board of Education. All areas outside of the city are governed by their citys/municipality board. |

Anyone know if there is an Allegheny county public school website (I am guessing that is what I should look for, to look up schools immediately surrouding Pittsburgh, and not directly inside the city of Pittsburgh. For some reason, I have been unable to get to find this website.

I think you will have to google the individual school districts outside of Pittsburgh proper.

there is no Allegheny County school system, the schools are run by individual municipalities. The city of Pittsburgh school system is called "Pittsburgh Public Schools".
