Is Pittsburgh city water clean and good-tasting? I've never been there, but might go soon, and am wondering about a lot of little things, such as that.

The tap water here in Greenfield/Squirrel Hill seems pretty good to me. Better than the water where I lived in Cecil/Canonsburg.

Water in the city office buildings tastes terrible probably due to old pipes. I've never found it to be offensive in Pittsburgh homes though. My water in the suburbs tastes great. My friend has West View water (another suburb) and she hates the taste. She always drinks my water like it's champagne when she's visiting me.

Water is sufficiently clean but I don't care for the taste without filtration. That may be due to the fact that I've been using filters for the past 10 years.

We drink it right out of the tap and it tastes fine. We have always used a filter prior to moving here but have not found a need for one in Pittsburgh.

There are different water companies here in Pittsburgh, the only place I ever had any problems with water was in Bellevue and had West View Water.

Several times during my 6 years there it came through the faucet brown and dirty.

I double filter my water. Im skeptical it is clean. It is very hard water.

The mills dumped toxins for decades into the rivers. Most of it is settled on the bottom of the river. Iknow a city medic that said there is all types of junk settled at the river bottoms from vehicles, twisted metal and train cars. They will not recover any of this for fear of stirring up toxins that settled on the bottom.

Water varies from area to area. I like the water in Highland Park and FC, but HATE the water in Sharpsburg. On the other had, the water might even vary in a town like Sharpsburg. I filter water sometimes, but sometimes I don't. Some days the water is better than other days as well. We don't have the water NYC has as far as quality for the most part, but I think it is usually pretty good, but like I sad, not everywhere.

Neither of us have hairs on our chest.

A few years ago the water in my neck of the woods tasted like straight up pool water. But now the nearest water plant had a multimillion dollar upgrade and it is noticeably better. I still filter it, but I can really tell that the upgrade they did improved the taste.

You figure before they were treating water in facilities that were built in the early 20th century. I'd imagine that other places that have those old facilities have that crappy water taste too.
