I would say that either side is almost never 100% right about any given issue. Rarer yet, is when someone from one side thinks the other is 100% right about an issue. Elected officials have the responsibly to represent everyone, including those that didn't vote for them, and need to make some effort to do what they can for these people. Partisan politics is destroying this country, elected officials must represent all, not just the citizens of their political party.

I know very little about this guy. His ads seem to be filled with pleasant generalities about improving education.
That all sounds very nice, but the devil is in the details. I would not want at Governor who started hiking a bunch of taxes (and yes....I know what Corbett just did to our gas tax) because right now PA is in a pretty good competitive position vis-a-vis our neighboring states.

The only thing Tom Corbett did right was enact the bipartisan transportation funding bill. Otherwise, I'm not impressed. I wish Republicans would focus more on economic issues than social issues. They'd actually win some elections if they did that, and they'd even get reelected if they let the market work things out instead of doing favors for all their pals.

Democrats do better with social issues. The only problem is, if Tom Wolf wins the election, I know better than to expect the corporate income tax rate to be cut anytime soon.

So I understand why I don't support Corbett: he's a conservative Republican and I'm a Democrat who wishes the Democrats were more liberal. What I don't understand is why so many Republicans in PA obviously don't support him either. To my lefty eye he seems like he ticks off all the right boxes to qualify as a conservative: he's pro-life, anti-gay, anti-tax, pro gas and oil industry, anti-pollution regulation, anti-union, anti-public school, anti-ACA, etc.

So what is it? Why does he get so little support from his fellow Republicans?

Well one reason was the Transportation Bill, which didn't support or even care about until back into a political corner for which he needed desparately for a political win. With that came the George Bush effect with the Tea Party Repubs in the state "No New Taxes" well many see the Transportation Bill passing as New Taxes and a broken Campaign Promises.

Plus also I think many didn't like that he was a crony for Gas Industry.

Well, for me the Transportation Bill was the only good thing that he's done so that makes sense.

I'm really starting to get sick and tired of people on this message board invoking tired-ass stereotypes of pickup truck drivers. I've now seen three different people do it just in the last 24 hours. I drive a pickup truck, so if people have a problem with me for that, then they can address me directly. Until then, shut up with the pickup truck stereotypes.

And in case any of you haven't noticed (probably not), they're really not being used as "family cars" nearly as much as they were 10 to 20 years ago, and their fuel economy has improved dramatically. You can get a full-sized pickup truck with a 300-horsepower V-6 engine that gets 25 MPG on the highway now. Good luck breaking 20 MPG on the highway 10 years ago. Get with the times.
