What's a good family friendly trip from Pittsburgh? Probably less than 3 hours drive and closer to 2 would be better.

We've been to Nemacolin several times, as well as Bedford Springs. I'm not keen on the indoor water parks (yuck) so that's out. We've done the Lake Erie area too, but if the weather doesn't cooperate, then I'm not sure what to do up there.

We would be taking this trip in a few weeks. My daughter is 3.5 and I'm expecting...so no roller coasters. Thanks!

Rent a cabin in Hocking Hills, OH. It's a bit over 3 hours but beautiful. Google image it.

Until the weather is warmer, a cabin is my best idea.

If Hocking Hills is too far, you could rent a cabin closer. Cooks Forest, PA is just under 2 hours.

Are you looking for day trips or longer?

Drake Well in Titusville is pretty interesting and makes a nice educational family trip. Drake Well

Also the Meadowcroft rock shelter in Avella is a really cool place to visit and there is quite a bit to explore there. It opens up in May.

Also the kids might enjoy the Trolley Museum in Washington PA.

I'd save that for fall. The foliage is beautiful to watch on the train ride.

I grew up in Pittsburgh and had never been to Pennsylvania Dutch country until my GF and I went back about 10 years ago. We loved it. Rode in an Amish buggy, ate at their restaurants, took a train ride, and generally got to see how pretty that area is.

Maybe not what you are looking to do, but we loved it.

Pennsylvania Trolley Museum
I originally titled the thread day trips but that isn't really what I'm looking for. More, long weekend-ish.

Yeah, normally I am not a vacation/touristy kind of guy and did that Amish thing more for my GF than me, but I ended up having a great time there. It was like a little trip back in time and very interesting to see a side of life I had never seen. The food is also wonderful.

And, of course, we had to take a picture of her standing next to the sign that said "Welcome to Intercourse".

Cleveland! It's a fantastic city with some great museums and the Rock'n'Roll Hall of Fame. The Indians play right Downtown, so if the weather's nice you can go to a game there. The beaches, even the ones right in the city, are nice and clean and very family friendly.
