I can't handle when they become like rollercoasters dipping up and down. I'm afraid of heights. In an isle seat with my eyes closed (drugs to sleep are helpful), I can usually pretend I'm on a bus unless that dipping starts. I like roller coasters. At least there are tracks under the cars. There's nothing under planes.

We really really need that Toronto route back. Flights are always north of $400, and if you don't have a car, that's the only option.

Well, there is Amtrak, you can get from Cleveland to Toronto for $97. It's $27 from Pgh to Cle but the train arrives at 2:53 AM in Cleveland and doesn't leave until 5:50 AM. Arrives in Toronto 7:42 PM.

What train goes from Cleveland to Toronto? The only Amtrak routes that include Toronto are the Empire Service line and the Maple Leaf. Cleveland isn't on either line. You'd need to match up at least three trains, as far as I can tell going that way (and from looking into it in the past), and the trip starts to push a full day for something that's a 5 hour drive by car. Greyhound isn't much better (12-15 hours, and that's assuming downtown Toronto is one's final destination).

The Lake Shore Limited, then the Maple Leaf. I couldn't make the web page give me a direct Pgh to Cle, had to be multi-city, but for Cle-Tor, it does. Seemed odd to me. I see that there is a layover in Buffalo from 8:58 AM arrival on the Lake Shore Limited to departure on the Maple Leaf in Buffalo at 3:01 PM. And what seems to be a stop at the border crossing for 32 minutes. Then the Maple Leaf route number changes? Maybe that's the Canadian Rail number?

Yes, it would likely change to a new number once it's going through VIA Rail stations and on VIA rail lines. Anyway, that would be one hell of a brutal trip.

I'm okay on jumbo jets. Ancient, rusting prop planes are a different story. Not doing it again, short of an emergency.

on fridays the pennaylvanian arrive 450 pm while the ethan allen departs 547. thats three minutes shy of amtraks guarantees cutoff but that train makea the connection 360 plus out of 365. you could try their call center or book them separately and take the risk. the second ticket could be cancelled though youd have to have a backup plan

I guess that's an option, but yikes!
